Red Dead Redemption 2 is an RPG by Rockstar Games, and a perfect example of the role-playing game genre as a whole. RDR2 proves this because of its high level immersive atmosphere that can really pull the player into the story and the world created.
Even though RDR2 is a little over two years old now, it still has extremely high levels of replayability. There are many reasons for this, but the most important is the time it took Rockstar to develop RDR2. The company spent an entire seven years making this game, and the player can feel those seven years in just thirty minutes of its atmospheric gameplay.
A great example is how beautiful the atmosphere is. Picture this: American Western themed music playing in the background as our main protagonist Arthur slowly rides on horseback through an environment that feels just so real, with the sounds of birds chirping and the grass rustling under the hooves of Arthur’s horse, and the imagery of the sun gleaming through tree branches.
As a modern day gamer, I would’ve never wanted to play a game like Red Dead Redemption due to it being set in 1899. It’s such an ancient time compared to right now, but when I dove into the game I started appreciating it for more than the gameplay. I really enjoyed the setting and year it was set in, back when bounty hunters were a normal thing and doctors had no serious sense of human sickness.
Read Dead Redemption 2 is a western tale about loyalty, conviction, and the price of infamy. The story is incredible, with a multitude of different routes and options to take. This game is a gorgeous depiction of an ugly age. Arguably, one of the best games of this decade.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is of a rare quality because you just do not see this much content in a modern day, $60 game. It has hours upon hours of seemingly endless gameplay. And I’m not the only one who thinks this is such a great game.
Big game reviewer Metacritic rated RDR2 97 out of 100, and IGN gave it 10/10. Additionally, Common Sense Media gave the game a 4.7/5. These ratings just prove how marvelous RDR2 truly is. One thing which most of these media reviewers all point out is how alive the environments of these games feel and how truly immersed you can become in places like a small town, where if you see a dog you can choose to pet or scold it or even give it some food!
The little details are what truly make this game. I would not recommend it to a beginner in terms of skill level, because it can be a bit difficult, but Red Dead Redemption II is a must play. 10/10 ratings from me.
