Senorita Cairns

Senorita Cairns is one of the very talented Spanish teachers that we have here on the McCaskey Campus. She is currently teaching Honors Spanish 1, Spanish 1, and IB Spanish 5. So if you are a freshman or a sophomore or you are taking IB classes, you have a good chance of getting her for a teacher. She loves talking about her travels and things that she is passionate about such as her time in Spain and traveling to many different countries.

While she was in Spain, she lived in Pamplona which is a city located in the northern part of Spain. This town is historically known for the famous bull running for the festival of San Fermin. While she was living in Pamplona, she lived with three other exchange students from around the world which she said was a really cool experience because everyone had something different from their home culture to bring to the table. She says that she really enjoyed the life that she had there, meeting new people, trying new foods and just enjoying all that the culture has to offer. While she was in Spain, studying abroad during her time off, she and her friends she was living with or met while she was there, would travel around to other cities and other countries in Europe. She said that she and her friends in Spain traveled all over Europe to places like The Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany, Austria.

Cairns says that she would definitely recommend studying abroad if you get the chance. It’s a great opportunity to see what the world has to offer while still getting an education. You can take the opportunity at different times throughout your time in school but she opted to study abroad during her sophomore year in college.

Senorita Cairns started her journey at McCaskey as a student teacher in the 2016-2017 school year but she had her first job elsewhere out of McCaskey. But because of the great experiences that she had while she was a student teacher at McCaskey, she came back as a teacher.

She graduated from Millersville University in 2017 with a degree in Spanish education and is now attending West Chester University where she is getting her master’s degree in Spanish.

Cairns loves talking about her time traveling and living in other countries so if you get a chance, I’m sure she would love to share some of those stories with you.

Senorita Cairns grew up in the southern part of Lancaster County with her family and their cat and dog. She currently has two cats. She says that she hopes to get another dog sometime in the near future.

She says her favorite things about McCaskey is the diversity of the students and all of the things that they teach her everyday. She also says she really likes her coworkers.
