2024 Fall Sports Wrap Up

By Kordell Booth

Fall sports have now officially wrapped up here at McCaskey. There were a lot of highs and a lot of lows, but each team made all of us McCaskey proud. Since winter sports is around the corner, it’s time to see how all the teams did this season. If you didn’t know, McCaskey has seven fall sports teams: Football, Field Hockey, Girls and Boys Soccer, Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, and Cross Country. Plus, if you add cheerleading that makes eight sports teams. They all do incredible things on the field and the court.

First let’s start with the Girl’s Tennis, Volleyball, and Soccer teams and the football team. Although none of these teams made the playoffs this season, they put in a lot of hard work, and showed a lot of promise for next year.

Special shout out to the Varsity girl’s field hockey team who made the L.L. League playoffs for the first time since 1971, and even though they got knocked out of the first round, they showed that this team is ready to do some real damage in the future.

Another team that made the playoffs was the boy’s soccer team. They made district playoffs, but lost in a 2-2 heart breaker to Mechanicsburg due to penalties. This team is looking to come back stronger and better for next season.

Last but certainly not least, our cross country team had a spectacular season with their boys team making it to states and is now the sixteenth fastest team in the state. Shout out to girls’ varsity runners Ruby Gardner-Valle who finished in 15th place and Carolynn Maine who qualified for the meet as a freshman which means this team is going to be set up for the future.

All things said and done, this fall sports season at McCaskey has been really fun. All the teams showed much promise for the future years and are ready to put the work in to get better for next season. This time next year there will be a lot of excitement in Tornado Alley and every team in the L.L. League better watch out because McCaskey is coming.
