The 2024-2025 NFL Playoffs So Far

By Jociel Colon

It’s playoff time again in the NFL. And whether your team missed the postseason, took a loss in the wild card, or divisional, we’re here to keep you up to speed on what’s been going on so far around the league.

Of course, we need to start with our Birds. In the wildcard game, the Eagles beat the Packers 22-10. Saquon Barkley, who had an incredible 2,000 yard rushing season, went for 119 rushing yards but no touchdowns. Jalen Hurts threw for 131 yards and 2 TDs. Jordan Love, who may be the most overrated quarterback in the league, threw for 3 interceptions, including the game sealing pick.

The Birds then faced the Rams in a snowy divisional game. LA went through some Deja Vu, as Barkley gave his best LeSean McCoy impression and ran for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns in the snow. Barkley finished the game only 50 yards behind his own career high, which he set against LA earlier in the regular season. The game did end closely, as the final score was 22-28 with the Rams having the final possession. This sent the Eagles into the conference championship game with division rival, the Commanders.

Even being 13-5, the Commanders have been seen as underdogs in the playoffs. In the wildcard round, they played the Buccaneers, which featured the classic matchup of Mike Evans and Marshon Lattimore. Evans bested Lattimore this game, coming up with 92 receiving yards and a touchdown. Despite these efforts, Washington beat the Bucs with a game-winning field goal, winning 23-20. Washington then defeated the number one-seeded Lions in an upset and thriller, 45-31, in which Jared Goff threw 3 interceptions.

After beating the Chargers 32-12 and forcing 4 interceptions out of Justin Herbert, the Texans faced the Chiefs in the divisional round. The Texans had a horrible special teams outing, failing on 3 PAT attempts. And despite C.J. Stroud’s best efforts, throwing for 245 yards and rushing for 40, the Texans lost 14-23. Giving the Chiefs their 7th conference game appearance in a row, and 2nd conference game against the Bills.

The Bills barely slipped away from the Ravens winning 27-25. Despite Lamar Jackson’s two turnovers, Jackson had a great final drive with a passing touchdown, putting them within 2-point conversion range. Mark Andrews unfortunately dropped the game-tying pass to send it to overtime, which sends the Bills up against the Chiefs.

It’s possible we’ll see an Eagles/Chiefs Super Bowl rematch this February, or a less interesting Bills/Commanders superbowl rematch. But one thing is for certain, anything can happen on an NFL weekend.
