Spring awakens the world with warm breezes, blooming flowers, and the promise of new beginnings- and at McCaskey, it means it’s time for Spring sports to start back up again. So put away your winter coats and jackets and get ready for the last sports season for this school year. 

Here at McCaskey we offer 5 spring sports: boy’s volleyball, softball, baseball, outdoor track and field, and boy’s tennis. Now it’s time to get a preview of what they’re expected to do this season.

Let’s start off with the most hyped up sports team at McCaskey—the varsity track and field team. Both the boys and girls teams are expected to repeat as L.L. League section 1 champs. They’re also expected to win the league title this season, and the girls are hoping to repeat as district champions.

Now let’s head to the mound to talk about the varsity baseball and softball teams. Both teams are both major underdogs heading into the spring season, and I think they have an opportunity to win some games and maybe the title. The baseball team started their workouts way back in the fall and will look to put on a show.  Even though the softball team didn’t get their new head coach until a couple of weeks ago, they’ve been working hard and hope to get big wins this season.

Lastly, let’s head over to the courts to talk about the varsity boys volleyball and tennis teams. The boy’s volleyball team is not expected to make a big swing at the L.L. League title this season, but they’ve been putting in work since the winter and I believe they could make an unexpected splash this season. With many seniors and juniors returning from last year, they are expected to have a competitive impact in the league. 

The boy’s tennis team is a very sneaky pick to win the L.L. league title this season, even though they lost one of the best tennis players on our team from last season in Jared Groff, but they have some really experienced players this season and are ready to shock and upset some of these teams in the league.
Needless to say, there is a lot to be excited for this spring sports season. So, put on your Tornado swag, and get ready to cheer on our Spring McCaskey athletes.
