You know Mr. Jones, right?

Sometimes, the most colorful, vibrant, few-in-a-generation person is someone you walk by every day and never really notice. And they might be the same person substituting for your class for a day.

One of these people here in our school community has definitely been a popular character among students since his start here at the school. Graduating in the class of 1974 from McCaskey High School, Stanley “Timeless” Jones has worked in the field of education for 30+ years. Working in Philly as an Elementary school science teacher for 27+ years, and in McCaskey for the past 3 years.

“I just wanted to try something different,” Stanley states when asked about his change from teaching elementary school to coming back to his old stomping grounds of McCaskey. “I like intermingling with the students. [It] Keeps me young, and I like the energy.” Jones also says when asked about his favorite part of his job here at the school.

“They’re people.” Jones says when asked about what he’s learned about students in his career in education. “They’ve got goals and aspirations, and look towards the future like everyone else.”

The biggest thing about Stanley, though, might be his fashion sense. “Pretty much I’ve always liked to dress, even when I used to walk the halls 50 years ago, ” he said laughingly. “I think that’s an expression of who I am.”

It comes to no surprise as to why Mr. Jones is one of the most cherished yet interesting people in McCaskey. He may be one of many here roaming the halls, but very few do so with the style of “Timeless” Jones.
