Made up of three sisters from the San Fernando Valley, the rock band known as Haim is back from a four year release drought and we’re ready. Two singles have arrived on the scene and have started the anticipation for their fourth studio album expected later this year.
No official announcement has been made regarding a new record, but fans are fair in assuming that that is the next move from the trio. “Relationships” and “Everybody’s trying to figure me out” are the two releases laying the groundwork for this new project. A big drum focus can be found on both of the songs laying into that indie rock sound. “Relationships” released on March 12, 2025 features lead vocals from Danielle Haim, the middle sister. She sings about the feeling of getting into a relationship and not wanting it at the same time. It’s about that tricky area of not really knowing what you want out of a partner or relationship.
The rollout for these singles have the cover art being recreations of iconic internet moments. “Relationships” being a recreation of a famous photo of Nicole Kidman that the internet joked was her reaction to finalizing her divorce. “Everybody’s trying to figure me out” features the sisters as a 2000 photo of Kate Moss leaning on a black SUV. These both follow the trend of early 2000s paparazzi photos.
Haim has been a band since 2007; their name comes from their shared last name which means “life” in Hebrew. For their first gigs they could be seen at jewish delis and 50 capacity venues. Now they are fresh off touring as support for Taylor Swift on her record breaking Eras Tour. On tour they performed their collaboration with Swift “no body no crime” off her 2020 album “evermore”. The sisters have been close with Swift for a very long time and have influenced each other’s music in one way or another during their friendship.
Debuting officially in 2013 with their first studio album, “Days Are Gone,” Haim entered the spotlight. It hit No. 6 on the U.S charts, labeling Haim as a breakout artist. Since then they have continued to make music with two more albums “Something to Tell You” in 2017 and “Women in Music Pt. III”in 2020 which featured “Gasoline” with Taylor Swift. Haim describes their sound as a soft rock citing influences like Joni Mitchell and a genre known as “LA Rock Folklore”. This new era for them is reminiscent of their previous music, sticking with their same sound of indie rock guitar and layering of all their voices. The two new tracks add pop-funk to their repertoire and feel like a new step into the summer.
Fans are anxiously awaiting Haim’s next drop, whether its third single or an album announcement. Whatever it is we are all waiting patiently to hear what’s next from this pop-rock sister super group.
