McCaskey high school has all sorts of classes offered, and no matter what class you take, you’ll need the perfect spot to study. To study peacefully, most students prefer a quiet spot with no distractions. Some students might struggle to find a spot like this, but there is one much closer than you’d expect in the form of the McCaskey libraries.
The McCaskey campus has two buildings, East and JP. Both buildings have their own designated libraries. Although at some points you will find the libraries closed due to school events, or tests taking place, it still serves a purpose. The libraries aren’t only a quiet place to study, but they also have books of all genres, even the textbooks used in classes.

In any classes where textbooks are used, most of the time you can find them in the McCaskey libraries. You can also find books needed for English classes, books needed for projects, and books to read just for fun.
Due to the budget cuts, McCaskey no longer offers after school tutoring, but students are still able to stay after school to study until 3:30. Although tutoring is no longer available, some teachers continue to stay after school in the library to offer their help to students. One of these teachers is Mr. Peachey. Mr. Peachey is a McCaskey math teacher who teaches geometry and AP (Advanced Placement) calculus AB. He prioritizes helping his students, and stays after school on multiple occasions to tutor students, even doing zoom calls late in the day for students who can’t make it.
If students do not have the time to stay after school, they can choose to acquire an Academic Flex period. An Academic Flex in McCaskey is similar to a study period, where students have a whole period where they can catch up on school work and study for classes. When needed, students can also use this time to go to the library or other classes if teachers have the time and they can ask questions.
McCaskey junior, Munira Siegrist is one of Mr. Peachey’s AP calculus AB students and she has a flex during her 5th period. She stated that “During my 5th period, I’ll go to the library a lot to meet with teachers and go over work. It’s a perfect place because it isn’t very crowded and it is quiet, so I can focus easily.”
Another McCaskey junior Soul McComsey, says “I have an academic flex during 10th period, and it is so beneficial.” Soul shared that she is able to “work on my homework ahead of time and since I work after school, it helps manage my schedule and time. I always go to the library, it is really nice and peaceful and I can finish my assignments.”

The McCaskey libraries have proven to be a perfect study spot which is close by. Students can sign up for academic flex periods and go to the library, or even stay after school for the extra 30 minutes.
